Beltar

Introduction:

Beltar is a beautiful bazar and second top commercial center located in the eastern development region in Sagarmatha zone in Udayapur district of Nepal.

Past history of Beltar was namely known as “Kebarpatta” in Chaudhary language ‘Kebarpatta’ means door way. Beltar is the mid-point between terai and hilly region in the entire district. The density of population is increasing day by day due to the migration of people from himalaya and hilly region.

Social Status:

In Beltar bazar we can find the unity between various cast, creeds, races and ethnicity. The major races living here are Rai, Brahmin, Chhetri, Newar, Chaudhary, Dalit etc. Social life of the people here is very much pleased with the Co-operation of one to others. Various social services organization here found running in peaceful means.

Religious Status:

People of Beltar have the trust on the matter of religion tolerance. Kirats, Hindus, Buddhist, Christian, Muslim, etc. are found here each of them used to love and respect each other religions. They have equal shares of their festivals on the occasion of their great festivals like Dashain, Tihar, Id, Christmas, Buddha Jayanti, Baisakh Purnima etc.
By the above sentences we can understand that, having different religions followers they have common sharing and respect to each other’s.

Jatras:

Every year from the day of Janai Purnima to Krishna Janmasthami Newari people perform “Lakhe Jatra“. At the time of Krishna Janmaasthami Day there is the Jatra running of lord Krishna all around the Beltar Bazar.

Chandi:

Every year in the occasion of Baisaakhe Purnima at sakela than of Beltar Kirats Rai community perform sakela naach “CHANDI”. Same day several folk dances and Jhaki is being performed.

Economic Status:

The major economics activities of beltar is an agriculture, the people following farming, poultry, animal husbandary, fishrey etc. the major number of people from Rai and Chhetri cast are employed in British and Indian armies, Singapore police too.
As being second top bazar of Udayapur district the majority of people from hilly and himalaya regions gets daily needed goods from Beltar bazar. Several bank, finance and co-operatives ltd. are established here for the financial transaction of local people.

Educational Status:

Beltar is an educated VDC of Udayapur district. The people found here are highly influences from English language and established more than 22 English medium schools. Present condition of education is growing day by day, the people who deserve to get higher level study and universities level colleges are too established here to fetch the thirst of higher education to the common people in cheap rate.

Conclusion and Suggestion:

Beltar itself is rich in natural resources and means. In the northern part of Beltar an ancient historical palace “CHAUDANDIGADHI” is situated. The present condition of the palace is not good if it is repaired and preserved than it will be one of the incoming sources of Nepal. Due to the instability of political condition “CHAUDANDIGADHI” is lacking various developmental infrastructures by which local people are facing the various problems.
If the government of Nepal gives support and financial aid to promote the palace than the majority of Beltar’s Youths will engage themselves to join in developmental works and which will be the attraction
centre for foreign people.
